I recently purchased a copy of the 1972 edition of Sod House Memories at a flea market in Hot Springs, Arkansas. As a lover of history and a member of our local Faulkner County Historical Society in Conway, Arkansas, I am finding this book very fascinating. Thought I’d see if the effort to preserve the history of your region is still on-going. Keep up the good work! Perhaps one day I’ll have an opportunity to visit a sod house myself.

Thank you for your comments. Our Sod House Society will meet this Saturday so we will give your message to them. We meet twice a year, One of our members takes care of a sod house on his farm. He has built a building over it for protection. The State Historical Society is taking samples of the remaining sod houses in Nebraska in a study. Each sod house has different soil and grass.
