Returning From the Dump - at McCook Air Base in April 1945,
with a
load of wood and metal scrap for the prisoners to make into suitcases,
toys, souvenirs - and picture frames. Over a dozen of the frames in
this
collection (T. Naegele's collection at the Nebraska Prairie Museum)
were
handmade with primitive methods by a master carpernter named Freidank,
who is seen here enjoying his first ice cream cone in years.
