| The New Industries Committee of the Holdrege Chamber of Commerce joined forces with the board of directors of the Tri-County Water Users Association in a direct appeal to Nebraska Senators and to Congressman Carl T. Curtis of nearby Minden to do what they could to help locate workers for the area. The idea was advanced that it might be possible to have a Conscientious Objector Camp built here.
