The Phelps County Historical Society is pleased to announce that the Don O. Lindgren Genealogy Library at the Nebraska Prairie Museum was recently awarded a $1,000 grant from the Phelps County Community Foundation’s Community Impact Fund to assist with purchasing computers.
The Don O. Lindgren Genealogy Library is blessed to have several volunteers that work long hours filing, organizing and preserving our local history and genealogy. In addition, the volunteers answer many queries from patrons both in person and via email. The growing library is equipped with four older computers that link into the Museum’s main server. Last fall, however, one of the computers quit and left the volunteers shorthanded. This grant will help us not only replace the broken computer, but allow us the opportunity to pool the money with other grants to enable us to purchase an additional two computers.
Thanks to the Phelps County Community Foundation and the generous people of Phelps County, the Don O. Lindgren Genealogy Library will continue to fulfill our mission of recording and preserving our local history for future generations. Please stop by the Nebraska Prairie Museum soon and check out the Don O. Lindgren Genealogy Library. We have a lot going on!
